MSMecha Movement Dials UPDATE v1.1

Please note that the MSMecha movement dials have been updated to v1.1.  This new version adds the MSMecha Tactical Battles logo, direction & speed notation and Backwards U-Turn movement to the movement dials.

MSMecha Cards UPDATE v1.1

For anyone with Bandai RX-0 Unicorn (Unicorn & Destroy mode) and Monew RX-0 Banshee (Unicorn & Destroy mode), the MSMecha Cards have been updated to reflect use of Monew Figures and the Melee advantage has been changed to reflect an attack distance of ZERO (0) as well as better explanation of the 'transfer' from Unicorn to Destroy Mode and back.

The MSMecha Cards link has been updated with the new RX-0 Unicorn, Unicorn Destroy Mode, Banshee & Banshee Destroy Mode cards.

So many Mobile Suits... so little time.

One of the questions I get a lot is, "What's the difference... between the MANY different Gundams/Mobile Suits?"

Well, it mostly has to do with the series/movie and story that the Mobile Suit was a part of.  It also has much to do with the different timelines that are involved.  The most common and popular timeline in Mobile Suit Gundam is Universal Century or U.C.  This timeline is the basis for Mobile Suit Gundam and was the first series to come out starting with Mobile Suit Gundam 0079.  (0079 meant the year U.C. 0079 which coincided with when Mobile Suit Gundam was created, in 1979.)

Other timeline involved are:
  • A.C. (After Colony from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing)
  • A.W. (After War from Mobile Suit Gundam X)
  • C.C. (Correct Century from Turn A Gundam)
  • C.E. (Cosmic Era from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED)
  • A.D. (Anno Domini from Mobile Suit Gundam 00)
  • A.G. (Advanced Generation from Mobile Suit Gundam AGE)
  • F.C. (Future Century from Mobile Fighter G Gundam)

If you have only watched one or two series, then you're really missing out on all the other great stories that are available.  Of course, not all of them are great (or even good), but that's simply a matter of opinion.

Personally my favorite TV series so far is Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and Unicorn and my favorite storyline is a tie between Mobile Suit Gundam: 0080 and Gundam Sentinel (which is not an animated series; it's only a novel.)

There are also series available that are not even about War - but simply collecting Gunpla (Model Gundams) and using them to fight each other in a video-game-like atmosphere in Mobile Suit Gundam Builders and the show presently on-air, Gundam Build Fighters.  Check out Gundam Build Fighters Episode 1 below!

RX-78-2 Gundam

The RX-78-2 Gundam (ガンダム) was manufactured and operated in U.C.0079 by the Earth Federation Forces during the One Year War.  Also known as the "White Mobile Suit", it was very advanced for the time and was built using light weight Luna Titanium Alloy.

Armaments included 60mm "Vulcan" Gatling Cannons, BAUVA*XBR-M-79-07G Beam Rifle, Beam Sabers, Beam Javelin, Hyper Hammer and RX*M-Sh-008/S-01025 Shield.

The first pilot for the RX-78-2 was Amuro Ray, who just so happened to be the son of Tem Ray, who was in charge of the Earth Federation's Project V.  Amuro became the Gundam's pilot purely by coincidence when Zeon forces attacked Side 7 during the One Year War.  Amuro was a gifted but brash and inexperienced New Type pilot, who developed into one of the most decorated aces of the Federation Forces.

MSMecha Movement Dials

The one thing very unique to Fantasy Flight's Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game are the Movement Dials.  Each ship has a unique dial that is used to reveal its movement in the movement phase.  The movements for MSMecha are a bit different in that ALL MSMecha can move the same, except for its speed as rated on the MSMecha Card.

Here is an example of an MSMecha dial that has been put to Forward Left Bank at a Speed of 2.  Notice that the number 2 is GREEN.  This is a slow banking turn to the left at a speed of 2 which would allow for the elimination of one (1) stress token if there are any assigned to that MSMecha.
Here is an example of a Straight Forward movement at a Speed of 4.  Since the number is white, no stress tokens would be added or subtracted to the MSMecha this round.
This example shows a U-Turn at a Speed factor of 5.  Since BOTH the U-Turn and High Speed of 5 are RED, this would add two (2) stress tokens to the MSMecha at the completion of this move.
This dial is set to HOVER with the dial set to straight forward and a speed of zero (0).  With the speed number GREEN, this would remove one (1) stress token.

This example shows the dial set to Reverse, Right Turn at a Speed of 4.  The MSMecha would move backwards, using the 90 degree turn template to the right rear at speed 2.  Note that ALL sideways and backwards movements are at half speed.
You can create your own MSMecha Movement Dials by printing out the above picture, then cutting out and placing the Direction Dial on the bottom, Speed Dial in the middle, then the Small Dial on top.  There are various ways of putting them together, but however you do - just make sure that they can all rotate.  If you have any suggestions on materials to print on or screw & nuts or pins, etc. to use putting them together, let us know.

UPDATE: Movement Dial v1.1 - MSMecha Tactical Battles logo, Direction and Speed notation added and Backwards U-Turn added to direction dial.

AMX-004 Qubeley

The AMX-004 Qubeley (キュベレイ) is manufactured by Axis for Zeon.  It was first introduced in the Mobile Suit Z-Gundam series in the year U.C. 0087. The Qubeley was the first combat Mobile Suit to use the Psycommu System for use with "New Type" pilots to control Funnels that are stored in the tail section.

The Qubeley was first piloted by Haman Karn during the Gryps Conflict and the First Neo Zeon War.  An officer of Neo Zeon, she was a very skilled and powerful New Type pilot.

Armaments include two beam sabers and ten Psycommu Funnels.  The Qubeley has a 360 degree range with Funnels as long as the New Type or Shield Points are greater than zero (0).

Its agility is very quick with a movement factor of five (5) and the ability to barrel roll with ease.

Made with Gundanium Alloy, the frame is sturdy with a factor of nine (9) and the Psycommu Funnels allow not only for additional armaments, but shielding as well.

1/400 Gundam Collection AMX-004 Qubeley figures can be found in Volume DX2 and DX6 in the following poses.

Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures ON SALE!

For anyone looking to start up their Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures and MSMecha Tactical Battles fun, you might want to go check out TARGET!

Apparently, many of the stores were overstocked in anticipation of the holiday seasons.  Normal retail price is about $39.99, but now Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Core/Starter Set has been marked down to $12.00!  You might want to pick up a couple so you can start out with a few additional ships in your squadron.  Click HERE to check out the latest information on it from Fantasy Flight's X-Wing Forum.

I personally have seen the SWXWM upgrade ships available for much cheaper than they were going for in December.  Now that there has been a new shipment of X-Wings and Y-Wings, the prices have gone down and can even be seen on eBay for less than $15.00.  An X-wing upgrade ship was going for over $40.00 just a couple of months ago.
